The two-headed calf
Tomorrow, when the farm boys find this
freak of nature, they will wrap his body
in newspaper and carry him to the museum.
But tonight he is alive and in the north
field with his mother. It is a perfect
summer evening:
the moon rising over
the orchard, the wind in the grass. And
as he stares into the sky, there are
twice as many stars as usual.
O vitelo de duas cabeças
Amanhã, quando os rapazes da quinta encontrarem esta
aberração da natureza, embrulharão o seu corpo
num jornal e levá-lo-ão para o museu.
Mas hoje ele está vivo e nos campos
do norte com a sua mãe. Está uma perfeita
noite de verão:
alça-se a lua sobre
o pomar, a aragem na relva. E
enquanto olha para o céu, há
duas vezes mais estrelas do que o habitual.
